Pro Tools 12.5.1 has been released as their first Q2 release in 2016. Unless they are going to release 12.6 with new features within 2 weeks time, it seems this is another quarterly release that bears almost no new features, only with a few collaboration improvements and some bug fixes.
This month is 3 years anniversary since Pro Tools 11 was released.
I will ask this question: For the past 3 years has Pro Tools HD received any HD dedicated new features? I don't recall one. Unless you could call unlocking HEAT to HD Native a "new" feature.
With this pace of development it seems that it will make more sense for HD users to withdraw from $399 a year support plan and pay $1000 reinstatement fee every 3 years. That's something I am likely to do when my plan expires in October. I have a feeling that Pro Tools Q3 release, most likely at the end of September, will probably make my decision easy.
